Rotorua is a fantastic destination and we encourage you to plan a longer break
so you can enjoy the “Manaakitanga” that is Rotorua. Although still in development, we can assure you - 
this programme will not disappoint.

Day One

Saturday 19th June

Cultural Awareness, Cultural Safety - 3 hours compulsory cultural safety CPD and 3 hours Professional Learning

Changes to the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act in 2019 strengthened the requirements for all Health Practitioners to adhere to standards of cultural competence (including competencies that will enable effective and respectful interaction with Māori).


This workshop being held at the amazing Te Puia and will include lunch in the fabulous restaurant that overlooks wonderous bubbling mud, pools of boiling water, and stunning geysers.


You will participate in an interactive workshop designed to build cultural competency and enable you to engage confidently with Māori.  You will practice pronunciation and learn some useful phrases for engaging with Māori; gain insight into fundamental Māori beliefs and knowledge of cultural etiquette.

This workshop will include korerorero (discussion) with two PodiatryNZ members who will bring a wealth of information and understanding on the Maori health perspective.

PodiatryNZ Formthotics Awards of Excellence - 3 hours professional learning CPD

The Inaugural Awards Event.  So much to celebrate!  Nominations will open in January and must be submitted by 30 April 2021. Through the PodiatryNZ Formthotics Awards Program, we will shine a light on the significant achievement of Podiatrists in New Zealand. Recognition of excellence by one's peers and other professionals in all aspects of podiatry is its purpose. Members will have the opportunity to identify those who exemplify the very best.

Now more than ever, infection control is critically for the health and safety of patients and practitioners alike, in this session we are going to focus on how to control environments outside of your clinic.

In this two hour intensive workshop, Michele Garrett and Claire O’Shea will discuss and demonstrate the latest in wound care for both diabetes related issues and all other foot wounds.
